At least he’ll die happy: Sushi dude gets his just desserts — at Lunchbox Laboratory

I knew I shouldn’t have done it. After turning Matthew Lankford on to Taka Sushi — and treating him to lunch there — I suggested the guy-who-ate-sushi-for-30-days-straight try Lunchbox Laboratory: my answer to his “Where’s the best burger in town”-question. So, what do I find in my inbox this morning? This:

Say hello to “Lankford’s Gluttoneer” — a half-pound of Super Beef (grass-fed prime rib/sirloin/rib-eye) with cheese, onions, maple bacon, a hot link sausage, Zesty (homemade!) ketchup and honey mustard on an Essential Baking Co. bun. According to Lankford — who’d told me he was still pining for CC’s Everythang burger — his (late) Central District fave, this is Scotty Simpson’s homage to Matthew, the burgermeister’s newest fan-man.

If there were ever two guys meant to be pals, I’m thinking it’s the sushi guy and dear Scotty. Matthew’s photo — and Simpson’s homage — proves I was right. I’m way overdue for a trip back to the Lab, by the way. Last time in, I ate this:

And had a big bite (or three) of this:

And did I mention, this?

So far, at least, I’ve lived to tell the tale. Anybody else been to Lunchbox Lab lately? What did you eat?
