Adios, Paladar Cubano!

If you know what’s good for you, you will not drive to Paladar Cubano today in search of a Cubano sandwich — or any other Cuban criollo fare dished-up from that tempting truck planted at the corner of 90th and Aurora for the past year.

I’m certain I will break the heart of many on this already gloomy day, by directing you to the Paladar Cubano website. There, music-man Pedrito Vargas has left us with this adios: “Paladar Cubano will be closing the truck for good on Wednesday, June 30th, 2010. Thanks for everything!!!!”

A moment of silence, please, for my Paladar-lovin’-pal Agnes Al-Shibibi (nee Torres) who nearly cried when I told her, and one last look at this:

Paladar Cubano’s double-fisted Cubano with a side of tostones. Waaaaaaah!

Feel free to complain to Pedrito at Redmond Derby Days on Saturday July 10, where he’ll be performing with his Groupo Ashe. And if you’re craving Cuban eats (stunning sandwiches among them) the good news is you’ve got other outstanding options.

Hail to the hungry, out standing in line at Seattle’s beloved Carribean sandwich shop, Paseo, with locations in Fremont (left) and at Shilshole . P.S. don’t forget to bring cash.
