Tom Douglas plans a new quartet of eateries

Tom Douglas isn’t done expanding his empire.

The city’s best-known restaurateur, with a dozen or more (depending how you count them) properties already to his name, has leased 10,000 square feet in the 654-unit Via6 apartment complex being built at Sixth and Lenora (not far from his downtown headquarters). He’s planning a new restaurant in the space, called Grange Hall, plus an “urban market” aimed at apartment residents and their visitors, which will include a new line of prepared foods (“Tom’s Home Remedies,” joining his existing “Rub With Love” rubs and sauces.) There will also be another full-scale bakery (no word yet on if it’s another Dahlia or a new concept), as well as a coffee cafe.

Douglas, who won the 2012 Outstanding Restaurateur award from the James Beard Foundation earlier this year, also has a cafe in the works by the Paramount Theater.
