Free Slurpees today! But, uh, the line in Kennewick might be kinda long

Look at your calendar, folks. Note that it’s  7/11, which means Slurpees are free today at participating 7-Elevens in celebration of the company’s 86th birthday. Kennewick, we are looking at you.

Put your hands together (clap, clap, clap) for the 7-Eleven store in west of downtown Kennewick, which sells more slushy drinks than any other store in America. More than a 1,000 a day! What’s in the water in Kennewick? Literally. Do they not drink tap water to quench their thirst?

Feel free to insert your own brain freeze joke here.

Don Mariotto, the owner of that West Kennewick store, brags his store sells a lot more than a thousand Slurpees a day, but he’s mum on the actual number, saying it’s a closely guarded secret.

(The 7-Eleven headquarter in Dallas confirmed that the Kennewick store does sell more than a 1,000 Slurpees daily, more than any other store in America.)

That’s great and all, but we here at the AYCE blog  like our slushy with a little kick, if you will. To cool down this summer, I checked out all the bars that had slushy machines to see who made the best frozen cocktails. The report is here.
