Are food trucks hitting hard times and going through a midlife crisis? Not in Seattle, where a new little truck pod opened May 12 at Fifth Avenue and John Street near Seattle Center. Two trucks per day are expected to rotate through the spot, starting out Monday spotlighting Hallava Falafel and Mesob at the Curb, with favorites like Off The Rez and Marination Mobile coming up later in the week.
The hangout is organized by the same folks who run the Second and Pike pod, who told us when that began that the truck pods are a way “to try to get more people outdoors and to mingle and have a little more life in the city.”
If the trucks at the new pod aren’t your favorites, a guide to roughly 150 food trucks around the region is online here. Also, don’t miss the seasonal pod at the Queen Anne Farmers Market when it opens in June; this year the market features 16 regular vendors and a handful of rotating visitors, from Sam Choy’s Poke to the Max to hot cakes on a stick.
