Free ice cream scoops for voters (and tweeters)

Here’s the scoop on getting some free ice cream in Seattle and King County:

For the first treat, offered Tuesday (Aug. 5), you need to be of voting age — and to vote. Bring in the tear-off strip (this one) from your King County elections ballot to any Molly Moon Ice Cream to get a free single scoop.

The second giveaway is available through Aug. 27, courtesy of the Ben & Jerry’s “Scoop Truck Tour.” The traveling truck will serve two new flavors, Salted Caramel (well — new to them) and “Hazed & Confused” at various “local community events, businesses and non- profits.” One early stop was Westlake Center. To find out where the truck is on a given day, watch its Twitter account. You can also tweet the truck to try to get the drivers to come to where you are.

Now that you’re thinking about ice cream, also check out this list by Seattle’s Naomi Tomky of the best ice cream and frozen desserts in town. She’s got a lot of good tips, and says you won’t find better than Lick Pure Cream in South Lake Union.
