Jenny Heishman is Betty Bowen winner

Seattle artist Jenny Heishman (maker of the “Water Movers” piece at A.B. Ernst Park and “Cabin Corners” at Boren Avenue North and Republican Street) is the 2011 Betty Bowen Award winner. The Bowen is big stuff: Heishman will receive an unrestricted cash prize of $15,000, plus a selection of her work will be exhibited at Seattle Art Museum starting Oct. 20.

In other Bowen Committee news, the quirky collective SuttonBeresCuller won the $2,500 Kayla Skinner Special Recognition Award and visual artist Lisa Liedgren won the PONCHO Special Recognition Award, which also carries a $2,500 cash prize.

Heishman, SBC and Liedgren will receive their awards and discuss their work at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at SAM’s Plestcheeff Auditorium, 1300 First Ave.
