Shout-out to Emil de Cou

Emil de Cou, new music director of Pacific Northwest Ballet, earned high praise from New York Times writer Alastair Macaulay recently. Early last week, Macaulay had heard the de Cou-led National Symphony accompany Suzanne Farrell Ballet in Washington, D.C., and on Thursday was lamenting the lack of live accompaniment when the dancers performed in New York. Macaulay wrote that de Cou “may now be the finest ballet conductor in America.”
