‘West Side Story’ back in theaters

“Tonight, tonight, won’t be just any night….” The unforgettable, Oscar-honored movie version of the Broadway classic “West Side Story” is celebrating its 50th anniversary. And in honor of the occasion, Turner Classic Movies and Fathom Events are hosting screenings of the film at cinemas around the country at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Participating Seattle-area cinemas include AMC Pacific Place, AMC South Center and Regal Thornton Place theaters.

For more about “West Side Story,” on stage and screen, check out Seattle Times theater critic Misha Berson’s new book, “Something’s Coming, Something Good: West Side Story and the American Imagination” published by Applause Books (read a review of it here).
