New music venue — The Royal Room — to open in Columbia City

Columbia City, which has blossomed over the past decade with hip new restaurants, bars and local music, will be graced next month by yet another venue, a new, 99-seat music room. The Royal Room will feature live music seven nights a week and have a full bar and kitchen with dinner, late-night and weekend brunch menus. The new venue is the brainchild of Seattle composer and pianist Wayne Horvitz, who suggested the idea to restaurant and night club owners Steve Freeborn and Tia Matthies, who own the Rendezvous and the OK Hotel. Music begins December 16th as part of a week-long gala opening celebration.
