Some art-scene news:

Henry Art Gallery has appointed Luis Croquer deputy director of art and education at the Seattle gallery. Croquer will be “a curator first and foremost, partnering with the Henry director and curatorial team on developing the artistic direction for the Henry. In addition, the DDAE will support institutionwide efforts to promote and identify funding sources for Henry” activities, according to a news release. Croquer, formerly director and chief curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Detroit, starts his new job in March.

SecondStory Repertory has appointed Corey McDaniel as the Redmond company’s new artistic director. McDaniel is a well-traveled stage director and performer, who has worked with theaters in Canada and abroad as well as around the U.S. and in the Seattle area. According to a release from the theater, McDaniel will announce SecondStory’s 14th season in the coming weeks. He will direct three of the six mainstage productions next season.
