3 area teens are winners in August Wilson contest

Winners of this year’s Seattle August Wilson Monologue Contest have been announced. The contest, now in its second year, requires entrants to perform a 3-minute monologue from one of Wilson’s plays. Ten semifinalists took the stage at Seattle Rep, and these 3 walked out winners. Along with cash awards, these three will participate in the national finals on Broadway in May:

–First place ($500): Xavier Evans, Timberline High School, monologue from “Fences.”

–Second place ($250): Drew Boening, South Kitsap High School, monologue from “Two Trains Running.”

–Third place ($100): Stacey Ejim, Timberline High, monlogue from “Gem of the Ocean.”
