A free ‘Solid Gold Cadillac’

July’s undertaking from the Endangered Species Project, which presents staged readings in Seattle of plays that seldom get full productions: “The Solid Gold Cadillac.” The 1954 George S. Kaufman/Howard Teichman comedy concerns a big company trying to snow a retired actress and shareholder, who then turns the tables on the board of directors. ESP assures audiences it is sticking to the original script, which calls for romantic leads in their 60s; the 1956 film version featured a much-younger actresss, Oscar and Tony award winner Judy Holliday, as Laura Partridge. 7 p.m. July 9 at West of Lenin, 203 N. 36th St., in Fremont; free, donations welcome.
