Cornish College of the Arts’ new early-music performance program will soon have a library of early music as well: the college has received a collection of over 1,000 published and unpublished works of music encompassing the entire baroque era. The gift comes from Joy Lewis, whose late husband, Urban J. Lewis III, was an avid amateur flutist and biochemist in La Jolla, Calif. The collection will be known as the Lewis Music Library. Cornish’s early music program was inaugurated last year under the direction of Stephen Stubbs.
