Physical tickets for Bumbershoot go on sale Wednesday

Physical tickets for this year’s Bumbershoot will set you back quite a lot more than two bits, but that’s what a shave and a haircut used to cost, and yes, the reason we’re telling you this is that the only place you can buy hard tickets for the Labor Day arts festival this year is in a barbershop.

Rudy’s Barbershop, with seven Seattle locations, in Fremont, Capitol Hill, the University District and other neighborhoods — as well as shops in New York City and Los Angeles — has the exclusive on Bumbershoot tickets this year. There is no fee for $45 single day tickets good on any of the festival’s three days, Sept. 1-3.

It’s all part of a promotion for the chain, which has been clipping hipsters for 19 years. If you buy your tickets at Rudy’s you will be eligible to win a VIP upgrade. Rudy’s will also be giving Bumbershoot artists free haircuts in the festival’s artist lounge.

Tickets are still available online at www.bumbershoot.org.

Headliners this year include Gotye, Tony Bennett, Skrillex, Jane’s Addiction, Fred Armisen and Janeane Garofalo.
