You can sing along with the pros in the Seattle Opera chorus — well, 50 of you, anyway — as part of an outreach program tied to the opera’s October production. “Fidelio,” Beethoven’s only opera, has a noble story, a brave heroine and, as you would expect from Beethoven, stirring music, especially at the conclusion. A group of amateur singers will be coached and allowed to sing the finale with the chorus during a rehearsal, plus hear opera general director Speight Jenkins discuss “Fidelio’s” mighty conclusion (Jubilant crowd! Trounced tyrant! Freed hero!).
The singalong rehearsal is 5:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at Seattle Opera Rehearsal Studio. If you want to take part, email your name and contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org. The rehearsal spots are first-come, first-served. Participants will receive digital copies of study materials in advance, including music and a pronunciation guide.
“Fidelio” opens Oct. 13.
