October marks the third anniversary of ArtsCrush – the 31-day arts extravaganza that features 130 regional organizations offering “creative arts adventures” for all ages, all over the city. One of the cool things about it — besides all the different events — is the pre-festival ticket lottery that gives away 2,500 tickets to 50 different events during ArtsCrush. (Free? Yes. Free.) To register for the ticket lottery, which starts TODAY (Sept. 14), go to artscrush.org and follow the instructions. You’ll also find info on the “date night” offers of 2-for-1 tickets, and the events for kids.
But that’s not all, as they say on TV. ArtsCrush is also putting on what it calls “featured events,” all of them free or pay-what-you-will. Think “Improbable Places Poetry Tour” — in the Alexis Hotel. Or ghost stories by candlelight with aerial troupe the Cabiri — with members of the audience being chosen as storytellers. Need some light? You could paint models at the “Beautiful Live Body Painting” event, or join a community sing with the pros of Seattle Pro Musica.
The official ArtsCrush kickoff is 11 a.m. Sept. 23 at Seattle Center. Stay tuned, as they also say on TV, for more about that event.
