SummerSet Arts Fest: The northend brings the art!

Volunteers have been busily restoring Ronald Bog Park in Shoreline, while knitters have yarn-bombed the trees right across 175th Street. Now it just needs some people. Art partyers are invited to SummerSet Arts Festival at Ronald Bog, 1-5 p.m. Sept. 15, to take in live music, dance and drumming performances, kids activities and art-making stations, plus some art-gazing:

— Meghan Lancaster will create a “disappearing artwork” sculpture from natural materials found in the park, with help from visitors;

–Carol Milne will create a glass piece designed to be viewed across the park lake;

–Mary Coss has made a giant conch shell, which will float in the bog and have its own soundtrack.

Shoreliners have already been intrigued by the super-sized sculptures set up along the trail on Highway 99 near 185th Street, and the whimsical art pianos set up around the area. The octopus piano, the “mate” to the giant knitted octopus in the Richmond Beach Library, is lurking out there, somehwere….has anybody seen it?
