Fact check: El Vez adds fun to politics

From general arts writer Michael Upchurch:

El Vez, the self-declared Mexican Elvis, digs his platform heels into election season with “El Vez for Prez” at the Triple Door on Oct. 25. When he brought the show to Bumbershoot in September (outfitted as a glittery, top-hatted Uncle Sam), he worked wonders with the Eurythmics’ “Would I Lie to You?” – a tune nicely in sync with the fact-checking frenzies triggered by recent candidate debates. He also had fun with other pop-culture touchstones, while slipping in some passionate political commentary, especially on Latino issues. Expect something slyly satirical – and very very sexy. 7:30 p.m. Thursday [oct. 25], Triple Door, 216 Union St., Seattle; $20-$30 (206-838-4333 or www.tripledoor.com).
