Hard times for Easy Street

The popular, 12-year-old branch of Easy Street Records in Lower Queen Anne announced on its blog Wednesday that the store will close its doors Jan. 18. Easy Street’s main store will remain open, said owner Matt Vaughan.

Though Vaughan said the Queen Anne store did good business in 2012, a rent increase and the necessity of signing a 10-year lease made continuing at that location too risky. For each of the past two years, the store has signed a one-year lease.

On Jan. 21, Chase Bank will take possession of the retail space at 20 Mercer.
