Dr. John returns — with a new band

Dr. John_color1G_Houlgrave APPROVED FOR BOWL 2013.jpg

From Seattle Times arts critic Misha Berson:

Who is that spiffy looking gentleman in the purple satin jacket? Mac is back! We mean, of course, the one and only Mac Rebennack, better known to lovers of New Orleans-style funk as Dr. John, the ivory-tickler and bluesy crooner who throws his own private Mardi Gras at every performance. Dr. John is no stranger to these parts, but in this week’s visit to Jazz Alley he’ll be fronting a new band featured on his latest album, “Lock Down.” The line-up includes Sarah Morrow (trombone), Bobby Floyd (organ), Joel Johnson (guitar), Dwight Bailey (bass) and Reggie Jackson (drums). Shows are Thursday-Sunday at Jazz Alley in Seattle. Tickets are $35 and going fast.
