Jared Diamond on what we can learn from primitive societies

Tonight on “Well Read,” the books and authors program on state public affairs channel TVW, Jared Diamond discusses his new book “The World Until Yesterday.” Diamond, a deep thinker across a number of academic disciplines, looks at primitive societies and what they have to teach us. The acclaimed author of “Guns, Germs and Steel” and “Collapse,” Diamond will make you think hard about what we’ve gained – and lost – by becoming “civilized.”

The program airs at 7 and 10 p.m. on Tuesday and at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on KBTC, the Tacoma public television station. And – good news for those who save things up until the weekend – you can now watch “Well Read” at 11:30 a.m. Sundays on UWTV, the University of Washington TV station.

You can also watch the interview here below, and here’s a Seattle Times interview with Diamond.
