Young musicians invited to enter KING FM contest

The 2013 Young Artist Awards Competition is now open at classical-radio station KING FM. New this year: there are two categories for nonprofessional musicians to enter: one for ages 6-13 and one for those 14-20. Judges will pick 10 finalists, who will perform May 3 and 10 on KING’s “NW Focus Live” program. The winners will be announced May 1, and they will perform May 24 on KING. (The winner of the chamber group will also receive private lessons from professional musicians and a chance to perform at the 2013 Seattle Chamber Music Festival.) Entries are due April 5; entry details are here. Last year, more than 100 musicians ages 8-20 entered the competition.
