Julie Young Denninghoff to be remembered at service
From Misha Berson, Seattle Times theater critic: A memorial service will be held for Julie Young Denninghoff at 11 a.m. Saturday (March 16) at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 19215 88th Ave. NE, in Bothell. A Seattle musician, conductor and educator, Denninghoff died at her Ballard home on March 7, following a heart attack. She was 51.
During her busy local career, the Florida native performed, conducted and was music director for shows at the Village Theatre, Civic Light Opera, the 5th Avenue Theatre and for community and school groups. She served as a music specialist at Northshore School District, taught music at Bellevue College and as the artistic director of Washington Academy of Performing Arts, among many other activities. At the time of her death, she was working with actor Ben Vereen, among others, as the Director of Programs & Development for Path To Excellence Through The Arts, a new summer program for young people. Denninghoff is survived by her husband, Scott Denninghoff, and four children.
