Manil Suri’s sweeping Mumbai novel

cityofdevi

Manil Suri writes about Mumbai – the enormous, multilayered city formerly known as Bombay. His new novel, “The City of Devi,” imagines what happens in Mumbai in the days after the ongoing clash between India and Pakistan has resulted in a devastating terrorist attack. As one woman wanders the city, looking for her husband, a mysterious man joins forces with her. Why?

Suri, a mathematics professor as well as a novelist, appears at 7 and 10 p.m. tonight on “Well Read,” the books and authors television show on state public affairs channel TVW at 7 and 10 p.m. (subject to the schedule of the legislature). “Well Read” also airs Sunday mornings on the UWTV channel. If you can’t wait, you can watch it here:
