SSO names new principal horn
Jeffrey Fair, the Seattle Symphony’s assistant principal horn since 2003, has been named to the position of The Charles Simonyi Principal Horn. Fair, a professor of horn at the UW, is also a regular at the Seattle Chamber Music Society’s festivals and has served as Principal Wagner Tuba for six cycles of Seattle Opera’s staging of the “Ring” cycle. Fair was principal horn of the San Antonio Symphony for three seasons, and has served as principal horn of the Eastern Music Festival and the Arizona Music Festival. He has a master’s degree from The Juilliard School, where he was a student of Jerome Ashby. The principal horn post has been vacant since 2011, when the previous principal, John Cerminaro, left the SSO.
