Public Displays of Affection: Sub Pop Jubilee bands announced
In the trailer below, studio wizard and Grunge alchemist Jack Endino announces: “Sub Pop’s Silver Jubilee will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 right here in Seattle’s beautiful Georgetown neighborhood. Come on down, bring the family, have a good time. Might be fun, yeah, I don’t know. Could be good. Bring ear plugs.”
Sounds great right? But wait, there’s more.
“The jubilee will also feature a cornucopia of commerce, consumption, comedy and art,” says Tad Doyle.
Fans of the local label will be pleased with the lineup–an eclectic blend of rock, hip-hop, punk and more TBA.
Here’s the lineup: Mudhoney, J Mascis, Greg Dulli, Shabazz Palaces (with THEESatisfaction), Shearwater, Father John Misty, Pissed Jeans, The Baptist Generals, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth (feat. Tad Doyle) and Endino’s Earthworm (feat. Jack Endino).
The festival is free and family-friendly, according to Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil.
Here’s what to expect:
Sub Pop: Actual live bands, playing actual live music! Some sort of art-related something or other! Like, in a gallery space, we’re thinking! A record fair-type event! Food! Beer and wine! (The food and beer and wine and soda or whatever, you will have to pay for! These parts are not free!) Good times and opportunities to embarrass yourself and those who’d always hoped for better for you! Plus, bands (specifically, these bands)!
