SAM’s curator of Chinese art is off to Hong Kong

Josh Yiu, Seattle Art Museum’s Foster Foundation Curator of Chinese Art, has been hired as the associate director of the art museum at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He’ll leave SAM in July after six years at SAM. His most recent exhibition, “China: The Fuller Version,” opens in August and marks the 80th anniversary of SAM’s founding by Richard Fuller, the geologist-turned-art expert who led the museum from 1933-73.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong‘s art museum specializes in rare rubbings from the Song and Ming eras and ceramics; it also holds bronzes, jades, lacquer ware, ivories and sculpture.
