Jinkx and Jerick: From ‘Rent’ to RuPaul

Fans of Seattle performer Jinkx Monsoon (aka Jerick Hoffer) cheered Monday night as the drag diva was crowned winner of Season 5 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Locals recognize Hoffer from recent well-received parts in “Rent” at 5th Avenue Theatre; “Spring Awakening” at Balagan; and in a Balagan/STG coproduction of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.” More stage work is in the wings: an appearance in the 10th anniversary concert version of “Hairspray” in Seattle in June, and broadway.com reports that the Season 5 winner will “make her off-Broadway debut in ‘The Vaudevillians,’ a new musical comedy” at the Laurie Beechman Theater in July.
