A summer solstice puzzle and quiz

Mark Nowlin / The Seattle Times

A while back, Seattle Times news artist Mark Nowlin was doodling (as news artists do) and he wound up with an eye-dazzling, heliocentric maze that we are publishing Friday on the cover of the Weekend Plus section, to go with our preview of the Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade.

Where’d the idea for the puzzle come from?  Mark says, “I enjoy mazes and trivia all year long. But now that it’s time for the summer solstice, why not combine sun, trivia and a maze? What could be better than going through a tricky maze on a sunny day?!”

Well, we’re still hoping for the sunny day. But in the meantime, you can download a large pdf of the puzzle here. And the answers to the quiz, if you need them, are here.

Have fun … and think sun!
