Jinkx Monsoon, Major Scales charm New York
From Seattle Times theater critic Misha Berson:
In case you hadn’t heard, Jinkx Monsoon (aka Seattle native and Cornish College grad Jerick Hoffer) has scored a hit at New York City’s Laurie Beechman Theatre with the drag variety show “The Vaudevillians,” which also features Cornish alum Richard Andriessen as Jinkx’s accompanist, Major Scales. A New York Times reviewer enthused, “Monsoon and Scales’ humor is light and sparkling, with a PG-13 naughtiness level. It’s still a pure delight. In the duo’s well-versed affection for the past century of entertainment, they remind us that the best drag acts trace their DNA all the way back to, well, vaudeville.”
