Single Seattle Symphony tickets go on sale Aug. 3
A summer ritual for Seattle Symphony patrons is upon us: single-ticket sale day. This year, single tickets for all SSO performances in the 2013-14 season go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 3). You can purchase online, by phone at 206-215-4747 or in person at the Benaroya box office (where it’s fun to eavesdrop on all the conversations about who wants to see what, and why — or why not).
Some season highlights: The opening night gala, Sept. 15, kicks off music director Ludovic Morlot’s third season, and this year’s big guest is Lang Lang, who will perform Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto on a program of dance-inspired works. The fantastic and charming pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet returns for an all-Ravel program Sept. 19 and 21; Morlot will conduct Bach’s St. Matthew Passion Feb. 21-22; and new principal pops conductor Jeff Tyzik will lead three programs — an all-Gershwin bill, a holiday show and “American Swing.”
