Seattle’s Ivan Doig on his latest Montana-set novel, “Sweet Thunder”

artsdoig09

It’s always a pleasure to crack open a new Ivan Doig novel, and the latest, “Sweet Thunder,” is no exception. The Seattle-based Doig has penned his third novel featuring Morrie Morgan,  a feisty and pugnacious lover of the English language who has a way of getting and staying in trouble in Butte, Montana. This time around Morrie takes a job as an editorial writer for a crusading pro-union newspaper that aims to twist the tail of the Anaconda Copper Mining Company.  The sparks fly, and off we go.

Doig discusses “Sweet Thunder” tonight on TVW, the state public affairs network (in Seattle, channel 23 on Comcast). Or you can watch it here.

For more information, here’s the Seattle Times review.
