5th Ave adds Lily Tomlin, other shows

From theater critic Misha Berson:

A concert version of   “Gigi,”   a rarely-performed show based  on the Oscar-winning movie musical from a romantic novella by Colette,  will be performed  May 16-18 at the 5th Avenue Theatre, the theater has announced. The show features songs by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe from the 1958 film,  and a new book by British TV writer Heidi Thomas  (“Cranford,” “Call the Midwife”).

The 5th Avenue is also adding to its 2014 line-up a two-night stand by actress-comedienne Lily Tomlin, who will perform her latest one-woman show at the theater on June 6-7.

And this summer  “Ballroom with a Twist,” featuring stars from the hit TV dance contests “Dancing with the Stars,” “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance” will come to the 5th Avenue, playing July 25-27.

Tickets for all three events go on sale to the general public Jan. 31. Info here.
