Amy Tan has been enthralling readers since she published her breakout novel, “The Joy Luck Club,” in 1989. Tonight on “Well Read,” the books and authors show on state public affairs network TVW, she discusses her new novel “The Valley of Amazement,” the story of a young girl in Shanghai who is thrust against her will into the life of a courtesan. This is a story of luxury, hardship, coercion and a flawed but intense mother-daughter relationship.
You can see Amy Tan tonight at 7 and 10 p.m. on TVW (channel 23 on Comcast). Or you can watch it here.
