Remembering the earthquake in Japan

Tuesday, March 11, is the third anniversary of the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear-plant collapse in the Tohoku region of Japan. Worry continues to this day about the leakage at the now-decommissioned Fukushima nuclear-power plant — such concern drove Seattle artist Etsuko Ichikawa to create “Echo at Satsop,” a film and sound installation made at the abandoned Satsop nuclear plant in Elma. At 6 p.m. March 11, Ichikawa will talk about “Echo” and discuss with the audience the ongoing concern about radiation and her native Japan at Jack Straw New Media Gallery.
