Portland-based painter Ralph Pugay is the winner of the 2014 Betty Bowen Award, the Seattle Art Museum has announced. Pugay will receive $15,000 and some of his work will be on view at SAM beginning Oct. 16. Pugay is the current recipient of the Oregon Arts Commission Indivual Artist Fellowship.
Also honored: Seattle artists Gretchen Frances Bennett, with the Special Recognition Award of $2,500, and NEPO House founder Klara Glosova, with the Kayla Skinner Special Recognition Award of $2,500. All three will receive their awards officially (in front of people!) at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at SAM. The ceremony and reception are free and open to all.
