Seattle Times theater critic Misha Berson reports:
As if the Seattle theater calendar wasn’t already crammed to the gills, here comes the Seattle Fringe Festival with 88 performances of 22 shows. Performances take place at several Capitol Hill venues (Annex Theatre, NW Film Forum, Eclectic Theatre and the new Calamus Auditorium at Gay City Arts) from Sept. 17-21.
As with most fringe extravaganzas, the theatrical fare ranges widely, from Shakespeare to sci-fi to mini-musicals, short-short plays and one person shows. There will be an array of touring companies, from Portland; Los Angeles; Lafayette, Colo.; and New York, along with new works by numerous Seattle theater artists, including the troupes Radial Theatre, Playwright’s Muse, Studio4Seattle and Cirque Macabre.
Multishow attendance is encouraged: Every performance runs an hour or less, the theaters are within walking distance of each other, and tickets are just $10 a pop.
