Seattle Times theater critic Misha Berson writes:
Café Nordo has postponed the opening of the Culinarium, its new dinner-performance show place in Pioneer Square until March 5, 2015.
Construction of the new quarters, in the historic 1890s-era Globe Building where Elliott Bay Book Company was formerly located, is well underway.
But according Café Nordo co-founder Terry Podgorski, the projected fall 2014 opening was sidelined by a delay in obtaining all the needed city building permits for the renovation project, which will result in a full kitchen and a facility for dinner-theater and other events in the space.
Podgorski notes that the construction budget for the project has gone up (as often happens with building plans) to $300,000 ($50,000 more than the original figure). The organization is close to raising that amount from numerous sources, but is currently making a final push for needed funds.
