A way to keep up with Seattle theaters, concert halls, galleries, museums and other fine-arts events.

Let the holidays begin! Ring ‘em in with music of all kinds. Some suggestions:

Here at ArtsPage HQ, we are thankful for you, our readers (of the blog, and The Seattle Times as a whole). We’re also thankful that we live in such an arts-rich city, one that rewards us many times over. This weekend kicks off the “official” holiday season, so here are some events to get you out and about.

Last chance to have fun before the friends and relatives descend on you next week — or before you have to pack up, brave the travel crowds and descend on someone else. So get out there and amuse yourself.
Our list of weekend entertainment suggestions, as always, just skims the top of what the Puget Sound area has to offer. Feel free to add your weekend suggestions for fellow readers in the comments thread.

Some big names anchor ArtsPage’s entertainment suggestions this week, from stand-up comic Margaret Cho to Canadian crooner Michael Buble to the most famous (fictional) resident of London’s Baker Street. But we’ve thrown in a few more obscure pursuits as well.
As usual, we invite you to tell us who (or what) you’re excited to see this weekend, whether it’s on our list or not. And wherever you go, whatever you do … have fun out there.

We’re a little giddy here at ArtsPage HQ, having just indulged in some decadent luxury chocolate. (I chose the one that promised peanuts and peanut butter; it’s low on the pb, but hey, I’ll make do.) So we feel dandy about pointing you to a 3.5-star movie, comedy, ‘Priscalla Queen of the Desert’ and the chance to win 4 tickets to PNB’s “Nutcracker.” How sweet!

It’s Veteran’s Day on Monday, which means a chance to honor those who serve — and for some, an extra day off to enjoy the weekend. We have some ideas, below, for both.
If you have other plans or events to recommend, we’d love to see them added to the comments thread.

Like music? Like books? This is a good week for you, then, as you’ll see by our Things to do This Week — Books and Music Edition. (Those among you who like leftover candy are probably having a pretty good time, too. Tip: Have you tried frozen Snickers?)

Expecting rain, we’re leading this week’s edition of the weekend preview with movies. Note that there are about a million other indoor entertainments around the Puget Sound this weekend, so our list is not meant to be exhaustive. We invite you to share your weekend recommendations with other readers on the comments thread.

As Halloween draws near, we are reminded of one of our faves — “The Raven” — and its creator’s certain way with the creepiness. However, unlike Poe’s famous bird, which quoth “Nevermore,” we at ArtsPage HQ say, “bring us more!” Fun, that is. Think of us as your personal raven, perched on your laptop, offering you seasonal treats rather than depressing tricks.

If you read Friday’s ArtsPage post listing things to do over the weekend — of course you did — then you know fall is overflowing with events, like a too-small trick-or-treat bag. Here are some more treats, for the week ahead:
