747-8 jumbo gets a boost from Korean Air

In a big boost for Boeing’s lagging 747-8 jumbo, Korean Air orders five passenger jets, plus six 777-300ERs. Taking into account the standard discounts, the total Korean Air order is worth $1.8 billion.

Here’s the Boeing press release.

Last month Boeing lost an order for five 747-8 cargo planes from the shrinking DAE Capital, eroding its order book. In March it announced it would slow production from two planes a month to 1.75, but company officials voiced confidence in the program’s future.
