Isn’t it quaint? All-U.S. key components on original 747

As Boeing Machinists vote on a contract that will determine the future of the Everett plant, FlightGlobal has posted its archived story from 1968 on initial construction of the massive building for also-massive 747.

What’s striking is the map of key parts suppliers for the plane — it only shows the U.S.747-parts-USAmade

Wichita, Cleveland, Phoenix, Hartford — a lot of sources, but nothing big from overseas suppliers. Times have certainly changed.
