Redmond’s Steve Wiebe has done it.
The legendary Donkey Kong player — whose quest for the arcade game record became the documentary “The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters” — finally broke the record, according to recordkeeping organization Twin Galaxies.
Wiebe scored 1,139,800 points in a March 14 game that was monitored by a Twin Galaxies refereee and filmed for a G4 Network show airing June 2.
The feat toppled the previous record by Ike Hall of Port Angeles, who as crowned DKJ World Champ last August with a score of 1,033,000, according to a Twin Galaxies release this week.
“This is a profound performance,” Twin Galaxies founder Walter Day said in the release.
