PopCap Games, creator of “Bejeweled” and other hit casual games, today announced that it hired a veteran tech executive as its chief financial officer.
Robert Chamberlain joins the Seattle game company after 20 years in finance positions at companies such as F5 Networks, Onyx Software and Watchguard Technologies.
Intriguingly, the announcement noted that Chamberlain “in many instances arranged for those companies’ initial public offerings or other liquidation at a significant premium.”
Chamberlain joins Aug. 31, replacing interim CFO Karla Horwitz of Tatum Executive services.
“As we mature into a sizable corporation, it will be invaluable to have him guiding our financial future in every key respect,” PopCap Chief Executive Dave Roberts said in the release.
“PopCap’s something of an anomaly in the software business — and a rarity in the technology sector as a whole. Profitable from day one while growing to nearly 250 fulltime employees in 10 years while never taking outside funding, which is a major accomplishment. Best of all, the company has tremendous potential, in terms of geographic, platform and channel growth — and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
