Shares of Electronic Arts jumped today on Wall Street rumors that Microsoft may buy the huge game publisher, Reuters reported.
“There’s talk that Microsoft might be interested in acquiring Electronic Arts. It’s unsubstantiated chatter, but it’s out there,” said Frederic Ruffy, options strategist at WhatsTrading.com in New York.

Update, 1:43 p.m.:: In an interview with Bloomberg News, Microsoft spokesman David Dennis threw water on the speculation. “There’s no truth” to the speculation, he said. “We have no plans to purchase EA.”
