Earth Day vroom: Tesla and Boeing’s “green” thunderboat

This might be worth the bike to Mukilteo: For Earth Day on Thursday, Boeing is showing off some a few of the most outrageous green vehicles on the planet at its Future of Flight Aviation Center.

On display will be Boeing’s biofuel hydroplane, the U-787 that had an exhibition run (below) during last summer’s race on Lake Washington, plus a $101,500 electric Tesla Roadster. Hydro racer Chip Hanauer will be driving the Tesla at 11:30 and signing autographs until 3.

There’s also an 11 a.m. program with a representative from the Snohomish County PUD, plus presentations by students from Marysville Arts and Technical High School and Voyager Middle School. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids; more details are here.
