Seattle online research company QuestionPro is expanding its mobile offerings — and geographic reach — by acquiring New Orleans-based PollBob.
Since it was founded in 2010, PollBob developed a mobile polling system with an iPhone app and website with more than 350,000 users who have shared more than 3 billion opinions.
PollBob is a noted player in Louisiana’s “Silicon Bayou.” After initial success with its iPhone app, it began bulking up and expanding its Web offerings by acquiring a more established polling company, MisterPoll, in January.
The combined polling venture is being swallowed by a big gator in the online survey business.
QuestionPro is part of a network of online research services stemming from Survey Analytics, a company started in 2002 by Vivek Bhaskaran and Kevin Battey. It now has around 890,000 daily users and clients ranging from small business to large enterprises like Motorola and the federal government, which are using it to conduct about 120,000 surveys a day.
PollBob has five employees, several of whom will remain with the merged company. There are no relocation plans, but Bhaskaran said they could eventually move west.
The purchase price wasn’t disclosed.
