In other tech news, the billionaire founder of Oracle bought another mansion.
Larry Ellison relieved former Yahoo Chief Executive Terry Semel of a Malibu compound with 151-feet of beach frontage, according to a Los Angeles Times report.
Ellison negotiated a 10 percent discount. Semel had been asking $40 million but Ellison paid $36,943,890, the paper reported.
That’s nothing compared with the $500 million he spent this summer for most of the Hawaiian island of Lanai.
Semel’s former pad has three structures with nine bedrooms, 13 bathrooms and a three-story rotunda. Ellison already owns other homes and commercial property along the Carbon Beach stretch of Malibu, the report noted.
Ellison’s penchant for big houses and fast boats isn’t putting too much of a dent in his fortune. The latest Forbes list of the richest Americans had him in third place with $41 billion, still trailing his nemesis Bill Gates.
