This is in addition to formal launch events and “midnight madness” events taking place at hundreds of game stores around the world.
The Seattle event is a local bonus, although it’s not on the scale of the blowout events held at EMP for previous “Halo” releases (such as the “ODST” launch pictured below).
Starting at 8 p.m. at the U Village store there will be a DJ, plus 16 game stations where players can compete against developers who built the game. That’s according to Xbox blogger Major Nelson’s note on the event. The store will be open past midnight, when the game officially goes on sale.
Also attending the party and providing photo opportunities will be Master Chief, although he’s become like a Santa Claus at the mall — you never know if it’s the real one.
If that’s not enough to lure the “Halo” faithful, Microsoft is giving out 1,000 gift bags to the first 1,000 attendees.
