Microsoft makes it official, reports Sinofsky exit

Microsoft finally got around to filing an SEC report formally notifying investors that Windows President Steven Sinofsky is leaving the company.

The most interesting disclosure is that Sinofsky remains a Microsoft employee until Dec. 31, even though the company on Monday said his departure is “effective immediately.”

Here are the two sentences in the form 8-K filed today:

As announced on November 12, 2012, Steven Sinofsky, President of the Windows and Windows Live Division, resigned as President of the Division on November 12, 2012. He will remain an employee until December 31, 2012.
